Bridges are an ideal solution for people who only have one or two teeth missing, and do not want to opt for dentures.

Bridges are usually made by crowning the teeth on either side of the gap, then attaching a false tooth in the middle. They are fixed in the same way as crowns. These bridges are usually made of precious metal bonded to porcelain.

Occasionally, other non-precious metals are used in the base to give it extra strength. There are also new bridges made entirely of a special type of strong porcelain.

Metal bridges are stronger than porcelain bonded bridges, which in turn are stronger than porcelain only bridges.
